Riverside Middle School is committed to creating a true comprehensive middle school environment that focuses on student achievement and supports students socially and emotionally as they progress through school. The curriculum emphasizes academic rigor and provides students with opportunities for exploration and enrichment. English Language Learners (ELL) are supported with English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. Transitional support for ELL students is provided as needed. Character education is incorporated into all content areas. Riverside also provides comprehensive athletics and Junior Achievement. Riverside offers the LOOP After School program providing students an array of youth enrichment activities including recreation, arts and cultural activities, field trips, and more. Camp Fire USA, City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department, United Methodist Community House (UMCH) and the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids manage the after school sites in collaboration with GRPS.
