BLANDFORD SCHOOL
Blandford School Alumni say it is the “coolest school” in Grand Rapids because of the unique hands-on educational experience and natural, historic learning environment. Located at Blandford Nature Center, the classroom is as much in the ponds, streams, woods, and fields as it is in the school building. The curriculum is designed to incorporate the school’s natural setting to provide hands-on experiences that fulfill requirements in each subject area. Blandford offers special units of instruction on biology, cartography, computer literacy, rocks and minerals, forestry, Native American culture, Michigan History, pioneer experiences, and so much more. Students also learn how to run their own business by tending to chickens and then marketing and selling eggs.
If you have a child going into the 3rd or 4th grade for the 2010-2011 school year and you would like to receive an e-mail when we will have a Parent Information Meeting, school events that are open to the community, or other opportunities to learn about our school, please e-mail our school secretary. You can ask to be added to the e-mail contact list. (Our Secretary also works at Zoo School, so if you'd like to be on both prospective parent e-mail lists, please mention that when you e-mail or call).
Please check our FAQ page for more information about our school and our INFO page for current events, newsletters, calendars, lunch menus, and more.
